And Cry

Today is Mambo Memorial Day. Last year on this day we buried our crustacean friend. Rest in peace, kiddo.

Taxes in February

Well, hey hay!!

First of all, congratulations to the Rawlings family for their new addition in this level of the food chain. Maddy, don't freak out, your dad is always like that. It's normal.

My life is a little bit of something else right now. We got the whole dropping of most of my classes [I never did like that caste system anyway]. Was looking for a job for a couple of weeks and I managed to get one at the Burlington Coat Factory. Yeah, I work in the lines department. I actually enjoy this job. Plus it outdoes custodial work many, many times over.

Let me tell you, it's good to be busy again. Got the taxes done already and I will have a steady paycheck. Now I'm looking into purchases. Like unto a personal compy and a cell. Yeah, so that's pretty much it. And you all now have a vitamin C deficiency.

We Have A Winner

After much thought and countless resumes and interviews we have officially chosen Benjamin Chatterton as Madeline Rawlings' godfather! Congratualtions Ben!

The State of the Union

"I'm tired of living alone,
and I'm hoping that it shows
all over, it's all over, and so it goes..."
-Hey Mercedes, "Stay Six"

Again, congrats to Brandão and Mel for the new arrival.

I would like to open a smallish discussion concerning the new directions of 3.5 and Happy Pirates, changes which we face imminently at the close of Winter Semester 2006.

It was mentioned by Keith that the end of Fall '05 was "the end of an era". I wouldn't quite say that it was the sudden and abrupt termination of a clearly defined one, but I would agree. One by one, most of the original members filed out, and by the end of Fall, most of the second generation had left too. (Keith and Leaps just keep hanging on.) We're now moving into a third-generation-run system, as Felipe and I are moving in somewhere, but not Miller. And the rumor is that Keith might have an internship.

Happy Pirates has always been run by 3.5ians, through three captaincies, and the core of buccaneers has always included members of the apartment. I hear the Meservys (Meservies?) are staying, and that's good to hear. I urge whoever is left in charge of the Miller Happy Pirates to continue the tradition -- I hear this semester has been very good for Piracy. As for us who leave, well, I plan on trying to start the buckling of swashes in the new location.

As far as 3.5, I would also like to encourage the continuance of Apartment Meeting: the drama, the irresponsibility, the goofiness. Maybe you should let a girl attend sometime. Certainly, there will need to be new leadership, but I trust whoever it is (my vote doesn't count, but I vote for Matty) will make it great.

And if any of you have Gmail and see any of the old boys online, e-kick them and tell them to keep us current. Thank you.

The Newest Member to the 3.5/Pirates Clan!!!!!!!!!!

Just to give you all a heads up, Melanie and I are now proud parents of a beautiful baby girl!!!!!
She came a little sooner than we thought she would, 7 weeks sooner to be exact, but that's OK, she's excited to come to this world!
Last monday Melanie's water broke and this last Thursday night at 5:00 pm, Madeline Rawlings was born. She weighs 4 lbs. 6 oz., 16 in. long. She's so small, but she is just the custest thing in the world! The baby was breach so they had to do a C-section on Melanie. The most amazing thing is that, although the baby is so early, she's breathing on her own and doing just great. Melanie is very sore but doing great. We left the Hospital yesterday (after having lived there for a week), and we should be able to take Madeline home in a couple of weeks. She just has to learn how to breast feed before we can take her home.
The whole story of the events that happened during this last week is long but intense, scary and very emotional. If you want to know what happened let me know! I've cried more within the past week than I ever have in my whole life. But I've never been so thankful and felt so blessed before in my whole life.
It's good to be home again, you can only eat Hospital food for so long. Now I just have to be patient til we can bring Madeline home!
Talk to ya later!

They ran out of Reno 911 reruns, so...

I've decided to come back to Provo the end of April/beginning of May. I don't think I want to live in Miller. Who will join me in seeking new quarters? Or dimes?
